April was a really fun month with lots of family time.  It was also a scary and stressful time because Lucy got sick and had to be hospitalized for a few days.

My recommendation to everyone:  DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG ASHORE IN THE BAHAMAS!   The worst part was that she got really sick while Linda was in California.  Mike and Lucy were anchored at a very remote location with no doctors, much less veterinarians.  Mike had to fly Lucy to the animal hospital in Nassau on a little 9-seater airplane, where she stayed for 3 days.  She was diagnosed with acute colitis.  She had also been bitten by a tick, so she was treated for a tick disease, even though her blood test came back negative.  She just finished with all her medications.  She's fine now (we think), but we plan to have her checked out again by a vet when we get to Ft. Lauderdale.

The best parts of April were the visits we got from our kids and grandkids.  Sean and Keni couldn't get away from their work schedules, so they let us take the grandkids (Kailyn-6 and Brady-2) for a week.  Linda flew to California to pick them up and bring them to the Exuma Cays, then flew back to California the following week to take them home.  Linda returned to the Exumas a week later joined by daughter Kimberly, Lance, Blake-13, Garrett-10, and Paige-7.   We cruised up the Exuma Cays to Nassau, stopping at the beautiful remote islands along the way during their 12 day vacation with us.  It was so much fun!!

Lots of snorkeling the reefs, swimming with sharks, stingrays, barracudas, and pigs!  Hours of beachcombing and sandcastle building.  Hiking to ruins, scenic overlooks and even blow holes.  Jumping off the boat to swim in the warm, clear water, or just lounging in the sun on the beach (for me, under the umbrella).  We roasted marshmallows around a campfire on Pirate beach, barbequed off the deck of the boat, gazed at beautiful sunsets waiting for the green flash, and watched movies in the evening gathered around our flatscreen.  All in all, a fabulous time.  Be sure to see the photo album for this month.

So now we are headed to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  We look forward to having Aquila back in the USA after being gone for 3 years.  We plan to cruise up the East Coast of the USA during May, June, July and August.  Hoping to see a few of our friends along the way!
